The Manitoba Forage Seed Association is pleased to welcome you to the 2018 Forage Seed Conference which is scheduled for January 7 & 8 in Winnipeg at the Victoria Inn. The conference theme is Building for the Future. For more than 25 years the Manitoba Forage Seed Association has brought together researchers, industry and growers to learn about new opportunities in the industry, discuss strategies to improve productions practises and share experiences.
As farmers, we are increasingly faced with new challenges, opportunities and technology in everyday production. This years’ agenda features speakers that address these issues. Sunday is an evening of refreshments, good food and fellowship, an opportunity to kick back and relax with growers, discuss the past growing season and learn.
On Monday the conference opens with a speaker from Barenburg, one of the most innovative companies in the world and a major player in the forage seed sector. The day continues with an Industry/Producer panel addressing a variety of issues growers face from alfalfa weevil resistance to new technology. Other topics on the agenda are MFSA plant growth regulator research, multi-year perennial ryegrass seed production work being conducted in Minnesota, leafcutter bee research and the role of micro nutrients.
